August 24 - Update
so far no responses from all the news channels and senator office I contacted so this morning I sent in Richard Howes story to Dr Phil TV show. Someone has to lesson before it's too late --- time is crucial!!!!!
August 21 - Vent
I just wanted to Vent and let my story be heard..............My husband was diagnosed with CANCER on July 14th and time is crucial the VA has known this since day 1 but yet making us wait and we had the doctors all set up to do emergency surgery and set up Chemo (from the time his was hospitalized) but the VA said NO they will not pay for outside care he just has to wait for the VA My husband has an appt on Aug 29 to be evaluated (the VA has all his paper work from the previous hospitals) then the VA will set up the surgery date but who knows when they will be and the VA hospital is 4 hours away which i don't think he can handle at this point. The oncologist in Pueblo Co (which is closer to us) called the VA telling them the urgency of my husbands surgery but the VA didn't care. So i have my husband at home dying. I thought the bill Obama signed was to allow Vets to get outside care? I have spoke to several VA patient advocates on the phone and have been laughed at, also been told that the bill would take several months to be active, also was told we just have to wait so i told the person i was talking i guess my husband will just die at home and she told me is there any other questions i said no she said good bye. NO CARE NO COMPASSION. For someone healthy just getting a checkup the wait time is no problem but to someone with CANCER time is crucial it is in his right kidney and both lungs and he is losing weight daily and getting weaker but we just have to WAIT.

August 22 - Not feeling well today
Back Story
Lets rally around Richard Howe Sr., who needs our support through his journey with Renal Cell Carcinoma and unexpected medical expenses.
On July 14 2014 Richard was diagnosed with Renal Cell Carcinoma (what a shock) he went to the ER because he had not been feeling well his symptoms where dizziness and throwing up the ER Doctor said he had Vertigo and took some x-rays of his belly, chest and head. The results where in, not only did he have Vertigo but also Renal Cell Carcinoma in his right kidney and both lungs and he never smoked (he will need his right kidney removed and do Chemo for his lungs) so far since July 14th 2014 he has been hospitalized 4 times, multiple 911 calls transporting him from home to the hospital. He has also lost approx. 60 pounds in the past few months. We are now waiting for his surgery date for the removal of his right kidney and getting him set up for Chemo and because of his Vertigo he fell a couple of times and broke his right ankle and twisted his right knee and now walks with a walker (he has an appointment on Aug 19 with an Orthopedic doctor). He turned 62 yrs old June 9th. Can't even imagine what all the medical bills will be.
